Realizing that the unattainability of absolute zero of thermodynamic temperature T and the choice of

absolute entropy as equal to zero at T = 0 are not statements of the Zeroth Law, what is the statement

of the Zeroth Law? [This is Nernst.s Hypothesis. See mathematical help for Nernst.s function.]

Solution

Statement of the zeroth law of thermodynamics:

If two bodies A,B are thermally equilibrium with third body C individually, then the two bodies i.e., A and B are thermally equilibrium with each other. This is zeroth law of thermodynamics.

This law gives the concept of temprature.

Concept of temprature :

All the bodies in thermal equilibrium must have a common property which has the same value for all of them. This property is called the temprature .Thus, temprature is the physical property that tells wheater a body ( or system) is in thermal equilibrium or not with another body(or system). If the two bodies are in thermal equilibrium, their temprature is the same.If the temprature of various bodies is different, they are not in thermal equilibrium.

The temprature of a body may also be defined as the property which attains the same value as that of the other body when they are put in contact with each other for a long time.

Realizing that the unattainability of absolute zero of thermodynamic temperature T and the choice of absolute entropy as equal to zero at T = 0 are not statemen
