1- https :- http stand for hyper text transfer protocol its a protocol which is used to communicate between our web-browser and the server.

2- : --- the colon just seprate the protocol from other parts of the address.

3- // --- it is used to make connection with the server.

4- www --- www stand for world wide web.So its a basicly server, in our example http protocol sends a request to www server.

5- chegg.com --- Its basicly domain name which belongs to chegg.com by which we can reach the address of the site, the request from www server is goes to chegg.com.

6- books --- So here books is the page in the website where the related information is stored.

Note: Sometimes you may find http and sometimes https so difference between these two is that https is secure protocol and http is unsecured protocol.
