Please do question 11, 12, 13~ Thank you~

In LVDAC-EMS, open the Metering window. Make sure that meters E1 and l1 are enabled. Set the AC/DC button at the bottom of each meter to DC. This sets the meters to display dc (direct current or average) values. Select the Continuous Refresh mode by clicking on the Continuous Refresh button. Record the voltage across diode D_1 and the diode current 1_D_1. Voltage across diode D_: Diode current I_D_1: Do the measured voltage and current indicate that the diode acts as a closed switch or as an open switch? Is the diode forward biased or reverse biased in this operating condition? Explain why the voltage measured across the diode is very small. In the Four-Quadrant Dynamometer/Power Supply window, set the Voltage parameter to 50 V. Does the voltage across the diode double? Explain why. Stop the voltage source by clicking on the Start/Stop button or by setting the Status parameter to Stopped. Reverse-biased diode in a simple circuit In this part of the exercise, you will apply a reverse voltage to a diode, and observe if the diode acts as a closed switch or as an open switch in this operating condition.

Solution

11. According to given voltage and current readings the diode acts as closed switch.

12. The diode is in forward biased because the diode current is 0.135 A or 135 mA , if the diode is in reverse biased the diode current is in micro Amperes.

13. The voltage measured across the diode is very small because low voltage is enough to break the barrier (or junction) of the diode. That is low voltage is enough for diode conduction.
