It is estimated that 6 out of 10 customers at Pizza Time pizza shop purchase pepperoni pizza. A survey of 10 of their customers is taken and two are randomly selected with no replacement between selections. What is the probability that the second customer buys pepperoni after the first did not?
Solution
PROBABILITY of customer buying pizza is 6 divided by 10 that is 0.6
Total customers is 10
Probability of first does not buy pizza is 1-0.6 = 0.4
As it is without replacement
Probability of second purchasing it is 6/9 is 0.6666
Therefore probability of first buying it and second not buying it is 0.4*0.6666=0.2664
