AP is the access point in a network.It may be wired or wireless.generally AP\'s are found in places of business like restaurants,malls,etc where customers are more.

Wireless AP\'s are present in restaurants like KFC ,McDonalds,Pizzahut etc in the form of wireless router devices.The devices are installed on a wall or shelf such that the network can be accessed from anywhere in the restaurant.

In case of restaurants it is mostly a publicly available hotspot but in case of hotels where the network is available only for customers who booked hotel facilities the AP is a private WLAN.
