A cylinder made of aluminum is supported at one end and loaded axially at the other end with a load of 2000N. A Torque 3000N.m is applied to the end. A -45.0, 45 degree rosette is mounted on the top of the cylinder, with the 0degree gage aligned with the axis of the cylinder. The diameter of the cylinder is 10cm. The thickness of the cylinder is 5mm. The strain readings are 200, 0, 450 strain units. Will the cylinder fail?
