Area of the circle Find the equation and the area of the cir

Area of the circle.

Find the equation and the area of the circle if the ends of the diameter (18,-13) and (4,-3).

Solution

The ends of the diameter of the circle are: (18, -13) and (4, -3).

The center is the mid point or [(18 + 4)/2 , (-13 - 3)/2]

=> (11 , -8)

The radius of the circle is half the distance between the points. This is: (1/2)*sqrt [(18 - 4)^2 + (-13 + 3)^2]

=> (1/2)*sqrt [ 14^2 + 10^2]

=> (1/2)*sqrt 296

The equation of the circle is (x - 11)^2 + (y + 8)^2 = 74

The area of the circle is pi*74
