Incidence is a measure of the occurrence of new cases of disease during a span of time. A cumulative incidence will specify a time period.  It measures the number of new cases per person in a population over a defined period of time.

In cumulative incidence, the denominator is total number of population . And the numerator is the number of new persons in the population affected.

Cumulative incidence = no. of disease onsets/ no. initially at risk
