The census results in a given state S show that during year

The census results in a given state S show that during year 2010, 94000 people moved to the state, 53200 people moved out to other states or countries, 57600 new babies were born, and 61208 people died. Considering the population change in this year,

Show the right accounting equation to use (algebraic, integral, or differential). Explain the choice.

Use your equation to calculate the net change (gain or loss) in the population of this state at the end of 2010.

Solution

moved in = 94000

moved out = 53200

born = 57600

died = 61208

change = in - out + born - died

= 94000 - 53200 + 57600 - 61208

= 37192

we used it because net inflow and out flow is given i nten\\ms of the no. of people and there is no relation or growth rate given,in case we had a growth rate ot mortality rate given based on the initial population w would have used differential equation.this is a linear case hence we can use algebraic relation
