The mass of the Sun is 2 Times 10%30 kg and the mass of venus is 4.9 Times 10^24 kg. The distance from the Sun to Venus is 1.1 Times 10 ^11 m Calculate the magnitude of the gravitational force exerted by the Sun of Venus. Calculate the magnitude of the gravitational force exerted by Venus on the Sun

Solution

a) let the gravitational force of sun on venus be Fg

                              Fg = G Ms* Mv / R^2

                                    =6.67*10^-11*2*10^30*4.9*10^24 / (1.1*10^11)^2

                                    = 5.402*10^22 N on venus

b) the gravitational force of sun on venus = gravitational force of venus on sun ,

gravitational force fallows newtons 3rd law , ie action force and reaction force are same

            so the magnitude of Fg on sun = 5.402*10^22 N
