Find out i for t > 0 in the circuit shown in Figure 1.

Solution

For DC supply capacitor act as open circuit and inductor act as short circuit.

So current i will flow from 20 volts to 6 ohms to 4 ohms and then to 20 volts

So total resistance is R= 4+6=10 ohms

current i = V/ R

i= 20/10

=2 Amperes

Therefore current i= 2 A
