I am not really understanding how to setup this problem i know i need to solve for torqe first but i am not really sure what to do after that.

Problem 32.67 Part A The 10-turn loop of wire shown in the figure(Figure 1) lies in a horizontal plane, parallel to a uniform horizontal magnetic field, and carries a 2.0 A current. The loop is free to rotate about a nonmagnetic axle through the What magnetic field strength will prevent the loop from rotating about the axle? Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units. BValue Units Figure 1 of! Submit My Answers Give Up Provide Feedback Continue 10 turns 5.0 cm 10.0 cm 50 g Axle

Solution

Torque on the loop due to magnetic field:

T1 = BINA

where B = magnetic field strength

I = current = 2 A

N = 10

A = area = 10*5*10^-4 m2

So, T1 = B*2*10*50*10^-4 = B*0.1

Torque due to the force of gravity on the loop:

T2 = mg*(5/2)*10^-2

For equilibrium,(no rotation):

T1 = T2

So, 0.1*B = mg*(5/2)*10^-2 = 0.05*9.8*0.025

So, B = 0.1225 T <---------answer
