From the Figure above, the total weight of the platform is 450000 Lbs

The buoyant force = the weight of water displaced = weight of the platform = 450000 Lbs

Density of Sea Water given is 64 Lbs/Ft3

volume of water displaced is = weight of water displaced /density = 450000/64 = 7031.25 Ft3

Bottom area of the Platform = 50ft x 20 ft =1000 Sq Ft

The base of the platform will go into the water to the extent of 7031.25/1000 = 7.03Ft

Where as the Platform base is 8ft thick. thus approximately 1Ft of base is above the water. Hence the Platform will be stable in the water.
