The structure shown is supported by rollers at A and by a hinge at C. Is it possible for this structure to be in equilibrium? Justify your answer with appropriate reasons, which may include - but not necessarily require - diagrams, Free Body Diagrams, and equations.
Solution
The structure cannot be in equilibrium as its motion in the horizontal direction is not constrined. Due to this, on application of the load, there are changes of the roller moving towards right, there by disturbing the equilibrium postion.
