Solve the system of equations by the method of substitution.

y = -4x

Solution

from second equation y = -4x

substitute y = -4x into equation (1)

=> -5x - 6 (-4x) = 19

=> -5x + 24x = 19

=> 19x = 19

=> x = 1

Now, substitute x= 1 into second equation y = -4(1) = -4

x= 1 and y = -4
