Despite this apparent simplicity of savanna habitats, the mammalian biodiversity observed in savannas is quite impressive. The figures, below, taken from the course textbook (Figures 5.27 and 5.19. respectively) illustrate one of the principle \"forces\" driving (i.e. biodiversity) in African savannas. Discuss these figures, what they represent, and elaborate fully and completely on the relationship between the phenomenon depicted in the figures and mammalian biodiversity. The state of a savanna ecosystem, at any given moment, is shaped by a number of forces acting upon it. Theoretically, in a pristine savanna, these forces would be in balance, over a sufficiently long time horizon.
