For the hypotheses H0 4 H1 4 If the p value is 00236 what

For the hypotheses:

H0: = 4

H1: > 4

If the p value is 0.0236, what conclusion do we make at the 0.05 level?

If the p value is 0.0235, what conclusion do we make at the 0.01 level?

PLEASE SHOW ALL YOUR WORK SO I CAN SEE HOW TO SOLVE THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS, THANK YOU!

Solution

When the p-value is less than the required significance level, we reject the null hypothesis.

So, for p value of 0.0236 and level of significance = 0.05, we will reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the mean is greater than 4. (As p value is smaller than level of significance).

For p value of 0.0235 and level of significance of 0.01, we will fail to reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the mean is equal to 4. (As p value is greater than level of significance).
