State a possible disadvantage in excluding axial deformation

State a possible disadvantage in excluding axial deformations of members (assuming members to be axially rigid) in structural analysis.

Solution

As we assumed members to be axially rigid so by excluding axial deformations there are several disadvantages such as, The member is rigid and by excluding axial deformation the member will be less flexible and will be prone for sudden collapse and In anaysis as member is rigid hinges will be readily formed where the member can be ready for failure and the member also cant take shock waves and the other disadvantage is analysing such bodies will be very difficult due to the increase of weights of members which overall result in the increase of weight of structure. Therefore we can say these are the possible disadvantages in excluding axial deformation of members
