A, B, C, and D are midpoints of the sides of a square of side length 8. If these midpoints are connected by line segments to the vertices of the square as shown, a square is formed. Determine the area of the square. What happens if you have a parallelogram? What if A, B, C, D trisect the side?

Solution

So, if you have calculated area then -----

(1) If we have parallelogram then after connecting midpoints to the vertices of the parallelogram, it would be a parallelogram or rectangle inside that parallelogram.

(2) If A,B,C,D trisect the side then figure will remain same. it means it will remain square but size will be bigger than

first one.
