Suppose you are driving on an uphill road whose slope pitch
Suppose you are driving on an uphill road whose slope (pitch) is 2/13 miles. Determine your vertical change after you have driven a horizontal distance of 50 miles.
Solution
Slope is 2/13 = 0.1538
Slope = Rise/Run
Since run = 50 miles
Therefore rise= slope × run
=0.1538× 50
=7.692
