The beam shown is fixed at one end and simply supported at the other end. The beam has mass of 30.6 kg/m. The modulus of elasticity of the beam is 210 GPa; the moment of inertia is 2880 cm^4. What is the reaction at the simply supported end?

Solution

here mass of the beam = weight of the beam

we know that weight always at center of the body and also downwards

the same ia applicable to the given problem .

here the force (F) is nothing but weight of the body which acts downword motion and located at center of body.

therefore if we draw a free body diadram Reaction at fixed end is (Ra) and reaction at simply supported is (Rb)

and Force (F) downwards and at the center of beam i.e, 205m from fixed end or simply supported end.

therfore

Ra + Rb = 30.6

find the bending moment at Rb ....

Rb * 2.5 = 30.6

Rb = 12.24

therfore reaction on simply supported side is 12.24 (Rb) .

 The beam shown is fixed at one end and simply supported at the other end. The beam has mass of 30.6 kg/m. The modulus of elasticity of the beam is 210 GPa; the
