1.Suggest the most appropriate computer modeling system for: a. Producing drawings and manufacturing data for flame-cut and drilled plates for fabricated structures. b.Modeling assemblies of fully machined parts, for which mass properties and interference checking are required. c. Modeling automobile body panels.

Solution

a. This can be done through SolidWorks, as the same can be done with CATIA or CREO Parametric also but doing with SolidWorks would be easier in comparison to both. If the design are made in SolidWorks, the major advantage is that you can easliy import it to SolidCAM and further machining can be simualted.

b. Modeling assemblies of fully machined parts, can be done with software named \'CREO Parametric\'. It was earlier known as Pro E so dont get confused with the name. Any version of it is very suitable for the complex assemblies rather it is the only software to easily undergo the assembly with the most complex ones.

c. Modeling of automobile body panels mainly consists of \'surfacing\'. CATIA is the best software for this purpose because the kind of options required to make a full-parametric design are so well-equipped in it. Also, all the major automobile companies does their surfacing with the same. Therefore, it is the kind of software tailor made for surfacing with no other software yet available to compete with it in the market.

If a person does not have acces to all the three softwares mentioned above, then I woud personally recomnend CATIA for all the three operations but it would take some time assembling the geometries in CATIA.
