Does neuronal cells have fast and slow potassium or sodium channels? Which of these are different from those in smooth or cardiac muscle?

Solution

Yes neuronal cells possess pottasium channels slower than sodium channels.

It is comparitively different from the smooth muscles which donot possess fast sodium channels. Instead, contain slow (L-type) calcium channels and fast (T-type) calcium channels.

And in cardiac muscles possess voltage-gated fast sodium channels, pottassium channels and slow calcium channels.

Therefore, the action potential differ possessing different type of voltage-gated channels.
