3.7.4 After a long ride, a bicycle tire contains air at 95 psig and 125°F. If the altitude is 4360 ft MSL, find the absolute pressure and the pressure head (gage and absolute) in inches of mercury

Solution

Gauge pressure = 95 psi

Absolute pressure = Gause pressure+ atmospheric pressure.

= 95+14.7

=109.7 psi.

Pressure head (Gauge)= P/unit weight

=95/(0.0048)

=19792 inches.

Pressure head (absolute)= P/unit weight

=109.7/(0.0048)

=22854 inches
