In an attempt to improve the voltages at the load buses 3 and 4, it is decided to install a generator at node 5 whose only purpose is to increase the load voltages and not to produce any power. As a result, the system is changed as shown in figure 2. What is the impact of the generator if the voltage at bus 5 is raised to 1.1 per units?

Solution

If the generator voltage increases then the load voltage also increases. If the load at a bus is increased beyond a limit, the voltage at certain buses begin to collapse. the voltage remains stable for small increase in load but starts falling if the load increases beyond the limit.
