In your own words. What are the advantages and disadvantages associated with outsourcing an organization’s IT function?

If requirements are clear, and it will not change for a significant amount of time then outsourcing a project would be a cost effective option. Only once you have to pay for the development and then no charges would occur. If requirements change over time, then it is better to have an in house development team to drive the project. It will be easy to maintain and develop new functionalities if you have an in house team.

Security of data. If data is very critical and can incur losses if leaked, then it\'s better to go with in house development team. Understand security requirements and implement it accordingly.

Advantage of outsourcing is maintenance of system, and driving customer support.
