Calculate the velocity of both pool balls after impact condi

Calculate the velocity of both pool balls after impact conditions before impact are shown above. p = 0.92

Solution

Given Data:

U2 = 9 Ft/sec

U1 = 0 Ft/sec

e = 0.92

Solution:

For a collision between two objects, the coefficient of restitution is the ratio of the relative velocity after to the relative velocity before the collision. It is given by the equation

e = (Relative velocity after impact) / (Relative velocity before impact)

= (V2 - V1 ) / ( U2 - U1 )

Now, substituting values,

0.92=(V2 -V1) / (9-0)

Cue ball will stop after hitting,hence V2 = 0 Ft/sec

Hence,

-V1 = 0.92 X 9 =8.28 Ft/Sec

Hence velocities after impact

for cue ball = 0 Ft/sec

for other ball = -8.28 Ft/sec

 Calculate the velocity of both pool balls after impact conditions before impact are shown above. p = 0.92SolutionGiven Data: U2 = 9 Ft/sec U1 = 0 Ft/sec e = 0.
