Solution

A central observation of this study is a close fit of the distributions of mitotic counts to the binomial model. Standard errors and CVs of the MI measurements are large and follow closely the magnitudes predicted by the binomial model . This indicates a poor reproducibility of mitotic counts per 10 HPFs for low MIs. Another important finding is that the MI is distributed log-normally, with a strong negative skew , resulting in tertial cutoffs incompatible with those of the Nottingham system.
