Breathing Effects on Heart Rate 92.8 89.6 86.4 83.2 ilnspiration Expiration]

Solution

A) as we can see in the given graph that the heart rate increases in the the case of inspiration wheares heart rate gets decreased when a person expires out!!

B) Normally during inspiration, systolic blood pressure gets decreased, and pulse rate goes up little. It is because the intrathoracic pressure becomes more negative compared to atmospheric pressure. This increases systemic venous return, hence more blood flows into the right side. However, this decrease in intrathoracic pressure results in expanding the compliant pulmonary vasculature. As increase in pulmonary blood capacity fills the blood in the lungs, and hence decreases pulmonary venous return, so flow is reduced to the left side of heart. Also the increased systemic venous return to the heart\'s right side hence expands the right side and directly compromises filling of the left side. Reduced left-heart leads to a reduced stroke volume which results in a decrease in systolic blood pressure. The decrease in systolic blood pressure leads to a increase in heart rate due to the baroreceptor reflex, which ignite sympathetic outflow to the heart.\"
