A 100turn 50cmdiameter coil is at rest with its axis vertica

A 100-turn, 5.0-cm-diameter coil is at rest with its axis vertical. A uniform magnetic field 60 away from vertical increases from 0.50 T to 2.5 T in 0.70 s .

Part A

What is the induced emf in the coil?

Express your answer with the appropriate units.

Solution

N = 100 turns

d = 5cm

theta = 60 degrees

B1 = 0.5 T

B2 = 2.5 T

t = 0.7 s

area of the coil, A = pi*d^2/4

= pi*0.05^2/4

= 19.6*10^-4 m^2

inuced emf = N*A*(B2-B1)*cos(theta)/t (here thets is the angle between and normal to the loop and B)

= 100*19.63*10^-4*(2.5-0.5)*cos(60)/0.7

= 0.280 v
