2.

Which process or processes cause an increase in the temperature of the air/fuel mixture during the cycle of Diesel engine? A) condensation only. B) Both compression and Combustion. O C) Compression only. D) Combustion Only.

Solution

1)In diesel engine there are four processes, namely

1-2 process :- isentropic compression

2-3 process :-constant pressure heat addition

3-4 process :-isentropic expansion

4-1 process :-constant volume heat rejection

the temperature of the air-fuel mixture is increased in compression as well as combustion process

when compression process is taking place the pressure of the mixture increases along with temperature

at constant pressure heat addition process means during combustion process the mixture is ignited and liberates energy and results in increase in temperature

answer is (B)

2)The drive shaft rotates once during every power stroke that means the power is developed for every 360 degrees(angle) rotation of the crank shaft

answer is(B)

1. 2. Which process or processes cause an increase in the temperature of the air/fuel mixture during the cycle of Diesel engine? A) condensation only. B) Both c
