• The report describe “Cortical thickening” more distally from a previous injury. Please describe the process of cortical thickening.
Solution
Cortical thickening is thickening of the cortex of a bone. It is also called hyperostosis. The hyperostosis may result from over-production or poor resorption of bone matrix. Cortical thickening is of two types: periostitis and endostosis. Prostatitis may occur due to the violation of the periosteal membrane, infiltration of inflammatory cells or deposition of new bone on periosteum.
The deposition of a new bone on endosteal membrane results in endostosis
