If X and Y are random variables with the expected or mean values of E[x) = 3 and E[y) = - 4 . Find the expected or mean value of 3x + Ay , which is denoted by E(3x + 4/) . Show your result as an integer.

Solution

Answer :

Given that X and Y are random variables with the expected or mean values of E(X) = 3 and E(Y) = - 4

Then the expected or mean value of 3X + 4Y is denoted by

             E ( 3X + 4Y ) = 3 E(X) + 4 E(Y)

                              = 3(3) + 4( - 4 )

                                  = 9 - 16

                                  = -7

Therefore, E ( 3X + 4Y ) = - 7

If X and Y are random variables with the expected or mean values of E[x) = 3 and E[y) = - 4 . Find the expected or mean value of 3x + Ay , which is denoted by
