Two trains are traveling towards each other on separate, parallel tracks. Each train is traveling at a constant rate of 60 miles per hour and each train is 1/6 of a mile long. How much time will elapse between the moment when the engines pass each other and the cabooses pass each other?
 Work done so far:
 time= distance of one train(1/6 mile)/rate(60mph)
 time= 0.0278*3600 seconds
 time = 10 seconds
 Is this correct?
Solution
I think you need to double everything.
 The trains are approaching each other at 120 mph.
 the two trains total length is twice 1/6 or 1/3 mi long
 Give that a try.
