Solution

Similarities and differences between the nervous system and the endocrine system:

Similarities:

1. Both secrete chemical messages

A.Nervous system secretes neurotransmitters.

B. Endocrine system secretes hormones.

2. Both nervous system and the endocrine system play a major role, they monitor stimuli and react so as to maintain homeostasis.

3. In regulation both uses positive and negative feedbacks.

4. Both nervous system and the endocrine system can use same chemicals such as epinephrine.

5. Both systems are associated with brain (Hypothalamus and Epithalamus).

Differences:

Nervous system:

1. It works by nerve impulse (Has chemicals in synapsis through).

2. Travels fast and usually have instant effect.

3. Response is short lived.

4. Impulse act on individual cells (Localized effect).

5. Composed of neurons.

Endocrine system:

1. Works by hormones transmitted in blood stream.

2. Travel slowly and may take longer to ask.

3. Response is usually longer lasting.

4. Widespread effect on different organs.

5. Composed of glands.
