Given the information below, determine if the elements in the box look like an R, L, C, RL or RC circuit. V = 100 angle 30 degree, I = 3.5 angle - 10 degree Element(s) RL V = 100 angle -45 degree, I = 20 angle 45 degree Element(s) LX V = 20 angle - 30 degree, I = 100 angle -45 degree Element(s) RL

Solution

A) 100<30 VOLTS

I=3.5<-10 AMPS

FROM THE ABOVE DATA BY OBSERVING THE PHASE ANGLE, THE CURRENT IS LAGGING WITH RESPECT TO THE VOLTAGE.

THE PHASE ANGLE DIFFERENCE IS 30-(-10)=40 DEGREES.

SO THE ELEMENT IS RL ELEMENT.

B) V=100<-45 VOLTS

I=20<45 AMPS

BY OBSERVING THE ABOVE DATA THE PHASE ANGLE,THE CURRENT IS LEADING WITH RESPECT TO VOLTAGE.

THE PHASE ANGLE DIFFERENCE=45-(-45)=90 DEGREES.

SO THE ELEMENT IS C ELEMENT.

C) V=20<-30 VOLTS.

I=100<-45 AMPS.

BY OBSERVING THE ABOVE PHASE ANGLES, THE CURRENT IS LAGGING WITH RESPECT TO THE VOLTGAE.

THE PHASE ANGLE DIFFERENCE=-30-(-45)=15 DEGREES.

SO THE ELEMENT IS RL ELEMENT.
