The signal above is an amplitude modulated signal to be transmitted. Determine the fundamental frequency of the original modulating signal. Determine the carrier frequency. Determine the modulation index. Calculate the length of the antenna required to efficiently transmit this signal. Determine the capacitor value required in a receiver with a 6 mu H inductor.

Solution

a) Modulating signal period Tm=time difference between two successive envelope peaks=1.3 msec-0.7msec=0.6msec

Fundamental frequency of the original modulating signal=1/Tm=1/0.6msec=1.67KHz

b) Carrier signal Period Tc=time difference between two successive sub peaks=0.584 msec-0.5msec=0.084msec

Carrier frequency=1/Tc=1/0.084msec=11KHz

c) moulation index=(Vmax-Vmin)/(Vmax+Vmin)=(0.035-0.015)/(0.035+0.015)=0.02/0.05=0.4
