A. The cafeteria sold 6 more turkey sandwiches than ham sandwiches. They sold 52 sandwiches in all. How many turkey sandwiches did the cafeteria sell?

B. Add: 3 m 76 cm + 4 m 50 cm = How many m? How many cm?

C. The difference of two numbers is 21. The sum of the two numbers is 75. What are the two numbers?

Solution

a)

t = turkey , h = ham

t-h = 6

t+h = 52

solving for t and h , we get 2t = 58 , so t = 29 and h = 23

b)

1 m = 100 cm

so 376cm + 450cm = 826cm and

divide 826/100 to get 8.26 m

c)

let the numbers be x and y

x-y = 21

x+y = 75

add the 2 equations to get

2x = 96

x = 43

43-y = 21

y = 43-21 = 22

A. The cafeteria sold 6 more turkey sandwiches than ham sandwiches. They sold 52 sandwiches in all. How many turkey sandwiches did the cafeteria sell? B. Add: 3
