A plane can fly 600 miles in the same time as it takes a car to go 140 miles. If the car travels 230 mph slower than the plane, find the speed of the plane.

Let the spped of plane be x mph

given that the car\'s speed is 230 mph slower than the plane

==> speed of car = (x - 230) mph

distance travelled by plane = 600 miles and distance travelled by car is 140 miles

we know that speed = distance / time

==> time = distance / speed

Here they take equal time to cover 600 miles and 140 miles

==> 600/x = 140/(x - 230)

==> 600(x - 230) = 140x

==> 600x - 138000 = 140x

==> 600x - 140x = 138000

==> 460x = 138000

==> x = 138000/460

==> x = 300

Hence speed of plane is 300 mph.
