Using data from MSL on triathalon times of a statistics inst

Using data from MSL on triathalon times of a statistics instructor, this Excel output for a one way ANOVA was created. The lap times for each of the three miles were compared. What are the null and alternative hypotheses? Can we reject the null? What does that mean?

Anova: Single Factor

ANOVA

Sources of Variation F P-Value F crit

Between Groups 20.80769 0.0000126 3.885294

Solution

Nul hypothesis: the true means lap times of three miles is equal

Alternative hypothesis: Atleast one of 3 means is different from the others

Since p-value = 0.000126 is very small,(less than 0.05) we reject null hypothesis and conclude that {Atleast one of 3 means is different from the others}
