both are used for the tissue sectioning and to preserve the morphology. paraffin is most commonly used, it can preserve morphology but it cannot produce sectioning less than 2 micrometer.

resin embedding enhance the preservation of morphology and can produce ultrathin sectioning.but htis is limited to tissue staining and probing.
