The ordinary gear system shown consists of bevel gears, spur gears and a worm gear. Determine the overall speed ratio (i_27 or i_total). If n_2= 1200 rpm (CCW), find the magnitude and the direction for the angular velocity of gear 7. If the distance between shafts 2 and 3 =210 mm, calculate the module, the radii of pitch circles R_2, R_3, addendum, and dedendum for gears 2 and 3.Solution
Solution:
Taking teeth on gear as T2 = 18 ; T3 =36 ; T4 = 10 ; T5 = 20 ; T6 = 1 ; T7 = 4
Gear Ratio is given by product of Teeth of driven gears/product of teeth of driver gears
GR = T3 x T5 xT7/ (T2 x T4 x T6)
GR = 36 x 20 x 4 / (18 x 10 x 1)
= 16
GR is also equal to angular velocity of input/output
16 = 1200/angular velocity gear 7
angular velocity gear 9 = 75 rpm
Now for gear 2 & 3
distance between shaft is 210 mm
r2 + r3 = 210
mT2/2 + mT3/2 = 210 (module for both gear should be equal)
m (T2 + T3) = 210 x 2
m (54) = 420
m= 7.78
r3 becomes 7,78 (18)/2 = 70 mm
r4 becomes 7.78 (36)/2 = 140 mm
pitch circle for gear 2 & 3 is pc = pi(m) = 24.44 (m is same for both gears)
addendum is equal to 0.3183 (pc) = 7.77 mm
dedendum is given by 0.3683(pc) = 9.00 m
