If a set of three loci are completely linked, do you expect to see more or less double recombinants than if they are all unlinked. Explain.

Solution

When three loci are completely linked less double recombinants are expected than at unlinked loci. Distantly linked genes consist of enough room for break and exchange of chromosomal fragments rather than in closely linked genes. Due to this reason, recombination frequency is more in distantly linked genes or the genes that are apart (unlinked) than in genes are located closely on same chromosome. The genes linked can produce only two types of gametes while unlinked genes can produce 22 or 23 gametes in dihybrid and trihybrid crosses respectively.
