The idea of evolution predated Darwin and Wallace. In early 19th century Jean-Baptiste Lamarck (1744 – 1829) proposed the fully formed theory of evolution. He stressed two main reasons for evolution - the complifying force and the adaptive force.
Later influenced by Lamarch, In 1858 Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace published the evolutionary theory in Darwin\'s On the Origin of Species (1859). It stressed on natural selection.
