Calculating values with fractional exponents fx 4x and gx

Calculating values with fractional exponents f(x) = 4^x and g(x) = 4^1/2. Use the values given in the table and the functions to determine the missing values.

Solution

a) g(x )= 4 ^1/2 * x

here x = -2

a) On solving we get 4 ^ 1/2 * -2 = 4^ -1 = 1/4

hence A = 1/4

b ) here x = 0

on solving we get 4^1/2 * 0 = 4^ 0 = 1

Hence B = 1

c) here x = 2

on solving we get 4 ^ 1/2 * 2= 4^1 = 4

hence C = 4
