Choose the end behavior of the graph of each polynomial func

Choose the end behavior of the graph of each polynomial function.

(a) Falls to the left and rises to the right

(b) Rises to the left and falls to the right

(c) Rises to the left and rises to the right

(d) Falls to the left and falls to the right

1.    f (x) =2x3 - x2 - 2x - 9

2.    f(x) = - 6x6 + 7x5 - 5x4 -7

3.     f(x) = - 5x (2x -5)2

Solution

1) f(x) = 2x3 -x2 - 2x - 9 ; degree 3

f(x) is an odd degree polynomial

leading coefficint is 2 (positive number)

Hence Graph Falls to the left and rises to the right

2) f(x) = - 6x6 + 7x5 - 5x4 -7 ; degree = 6

f(x) is an even degree polynomial

leading coefficient is -6 (negative number)

Hence Graph Falls to the left and falls to the right

3) f(x) = - 5x (2x -5)2 ; degree 3

Graph is an odd degree polymial

leading coefficient is negative

Hence Graph of f(x) Rises to the left and falls to the right

Choose the end behavior of the graph of each polynomial function. (a) Falls to the left and rises to the right (b) Rises to the left and falls to the right (c)
