1-14. If an autopilot did not have crosswind correction
a. a standoff could develop between responses to heading error and radio deviation.
b. radio deviation would automatically supercede heading error.
c. radio deviation would augment heading error.
d. the aircraft would not be able to sense that it was drifting off course.

2-15 .. The .Vertical Beam Sensor
a. operates.in roll control circuitry.
b. is used to determine the radio deviation signal capture point.
c. produces a NOT circuit output if a large deviation signal is sensed.
d. always operates on the premise of a predetermined capture -.level.

3-18. When DC radio deviation signals are changed to an AC deviation signal
a. the AC phase is not affected by DC polarity.
b. The AC phase corresponds to DC polarity.
c. both the AC and DC signals show polarity.
d. neither the AC nor DC signals show polarity.

Solution

1-14

(d) the aircraft would not be able to sense that it was drifting off course.

the reason is  If an aircraft has a maximum crosswind component of 25 knots, the autopilot is not going to be able to do anything to compensate for a 30 kt crosswind whether it\'s \"smart\" enough to do so or not---the rudders and/or ailerons simply don\'t have the control travel to compensate above that point. If the human-piloted aircraft would drift from runway centerline on such a landing, so would the autopilot.

2-15.

(a) operates.in roll control circuitry.

because The vertical Beam Sensor measures rotation of structures in the vertical plane.

3-18

(b) The AC phase corresponds to DC polarity.
