log(x^2 -30) = logx

equate the arguments on both sides:

x^2 -30 = x

x^2 -x -30 =0

x^2 -6x +5x -30 =0

x(x-6) +5(x-3) =0

(x+5)(x-3) =0

x=-5 ; x=3

Now x=-5 is not a solution as domian of logx is x>0

so, x= 3 is the only solution
