An insulated wire with a resistance of 19.4 /m and a length of 22.5 m will be used to construct a resistor. First, the wire is bent in half, and then the doubled wire is wound on a cylindrical form to create a 25.0 cm-long helix that has a diameter equal to 2.00 cm. Find the resistance and inductance of this wire-wound resistor.

Solution

length of the wire is22.5 m

resistivity is, 19.4 ohm/m

so the resistance is, R=22.5*19.4 ohm=436.5 ohm

Now for the case of the inductance,

The wire is bent in half, so in half of the wire current will flow in a direction and in the other half current will flow in opposite direction. so these two opposite current will cancel the inductance for each case. Therefore inductance of the wire will be zero.
