What is the difference between size tolerance and geometric

What is the difference between size tolerance and geometric tolerance in the context of GD&T;? What do we mean by discretization in the context of FEM simulation? What are some considerations (at least two) you should take to decide whether to use the \"Copy\" feature instead of creating a Pattern or a brand new feature in PTC Creo Parametric?

Solution

Size tolerance :

A size tolerance states how far individual features may vary from the desired size. Size tolerance with either unilateral, bilateral or limit tolerance methods.

Geometric tolerance :

It is a symbolic language used on engineering drawings and computer generated three dimensional solid models for explicitly describing nominal geometry and it\'s allowable variation.

Discretization :

Physical systems can be solved in two ways that are analytical solutions and numerical solutions. In numerical solutions, to make numerical solutions practical it is necessary to reduce the number of degrees of freedom to a finite number. This reduction is called as discretization.

Considerations to be taken to choose copy option instead create a pattern :

1. Should be copied feature be dependent or independent of the original feature

2.will the copied feature use the same references as the original

3. Will the copied feature use the same dimension values or different ones

4. Which dimensions will be driven by the parent and which will be independent
